What’s New This Fall In Dining? – Student Services

Montclair State Dining is excited to welcome our Red Hawks back to campus this fall and see all of the exciting changes we have been busy working on over the Summer! Check out just a few of the highlights of what you can expect to see this fall semester:

Student Center

• Introducing True Burger in the Student Center Cafe (formerly Grill Nation)

The True Burger brand was born when a student request for a truly premium burger, hand crafted from angus beef. The brand is deliberately simple: made to order fresh burgers, sweet and spicy battered fries and delicious exclusive specials. The legacy based burger menu covers a classic cheeseburger to a vegetarian black bean so that all of our Red Hawks can get a burger they will Truly love. And of course we are keeping our Red Hawk favorites like cheesesteaks, onion rings, chicken tenders, chicken wraps and more. Open Monday – Thursday, 10:30 am – 8 pm and Fridays, 10:30 am – 6 pm

• Introducing Smoothie Lab in the Student Center Cafe (formerly Scoop & Sprinkles)

Smoothie Lab is a trending concept featuring frozen smoothies and acai bowls with decadent toppings like crumbled granola and chia seeds. Choose from a fun menu of frozen drinks with ingredients like strawberries, banana, pineapple, dragon fruit and blueberries. Smoothie Lab offers avoiding gluten, vegetarian and nut free menus with the options of being vegan and dairy free. Open Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

• Reopening of The Pizzeria at the Student Center (formerly 2mato/Chop’d)

The Pizzeria at the Student Center, located on the lower level, is reopening as a reimagined classic Pizzeria powered by Grubhub! Place your customized order directly on your smartphone using the Grubub mobile app and use Block Meal Equivalency, Flex Dollars, Red Hawk Dollars or a Credit Card. Simply pick up your food, keep piping hot in our red pickup box, when you are notified that your order is ready. Open Monday – Thursday, 12 -9 pm and Friday – Sunday, 4 – 10 pm

• Relocation of Wild Blue Sushi

Wild Blue Sushi is moving from the Student Center Patio back inside the Student Center Cafe servery, located next to the main entrance turnstiles. Enjoy fresh, hand rolled sushi, edamame, dumplings and more. Open Monday – Thursday, 10:30 am – 8 pm and Fridays, 10:30 am – 6 pm

Residential Dining

• No more buzzers at Freeman Dining

Gone are the days of waiting for that little black buzzer to vibrate. Now, simply enter your mobile number into the ordering kiosk. We will text you when your order is ready!

• Freeman Dining x The Arts

Freeman Dining Hall is excited to announce that we will be collaborating with our College of the Arts to host student collaborating activities such as open mic nights, poetry readings, performances, musicians playing live music, yoga, improv and comedy and more! If you’re interested in performing in these live events, please fill out this form.

• Iced Coffee at Sam’s and Freeman

We know our Red Hawks love their Iced Coffee and we are delighted to now offer it as part of our all-you-care-to-eat program in residential dining at Sam’s Place and Freeman Dining Hall. Enjoy yummy, refreshing, flavored, ice cold coffee!

Retail Dining

• Student Center C-Store Reopening!

After being closed due to COVID, we are excited to announce that the Student Center C-Store will be reopen this Fall semester. Enjoy a hot cup of flavored coffee, grab a snack and bottled beverage before class or stock up on health and beauty essentials. Open Monday – Thursdays, 12-7 pm and Fridays, 4-8 pm

• Reservations No Longer Required at the Red Hawk Diner

Reservations are no longer required to dine-in at the Red Hawk Diner. Visit us anytime and enjoy your meal inside the Diner or pick up your meal to-go using the Grubhub mobile ordering app.

• Student Center Dining Room to host Special Menu Meals

Although the Student Center Dining Room will no longer be offering a daily lunch service, we are excited to offer two special menu days per month featuring special event menus. In September, join us for a Welcome Back menu on Wednesday, September 7 and a Hispanic Heritage Celebration Lunch on Tuesday, September 2. Menus will be available on our website prior to the event.

New this year, created from student feedback! This meal plan gives you “Your Choice” of where to get your meals and offers the most flexibility to enjoy all that dining on campus has to offer!

• Unlimited all-you-care-to-eat meals at Sam’s Place & Freeman Dining Hall
• 7 Meal Equivalency Swipes per week in our Retail Dining locations
• $250.00 Flex Dollars to use as you please, including on Grubhub!

Retail Meal Equivalency meals reset to 7 Blocks every Sunday morning for the upcoming week. Retail Meal Equivalency Swipe values ​​are: $6.00 for breakfast and $8.35 for lunch/dinner/late night. You may use Flex Dollars or cash/credit to make up the balance of a retail purchase (if applicable). Select your meal plan now!
