10 best restaurants in Peoria, according to TripAdvisor

In August, TripAdvisor updated its list of the “best restaurants in Peoria.”

Some restaurants on the list βˆ’ including Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse and Jonah’s Seafood House βˆ’ were located outside of Peoria, and the rankings include hundreds of places to eat.

The Journal Star narrowed the list to the 10 best restaurants in Peoria, according to the TripAdvisor reviews. Here they are from No. 10 to No. 1, based on thousands of online reviews.

10. Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery

The building at 321 NE Madison Street now known as Obed & Isaac's Microbrewery and Eatery was built by the Second Presbyterian Church beginning in the 1800s.

Originally built to house Second Presbyterian Church, Obed and Isaac’s opened at this location in September of 2016. The historic building turned microbrewery and eatery offers “an ever changing list of brews,” according to its website. The menu also features flatbread pizzas, salads, burgers and German-inspired entrees and appetizers.

9. The Fish House

The Fish House offers dishes such as New England clam chowder, lobster, crab and “land and sea” plates. For “a little of everything,” try the Broiled Neptune’s Platter, which includes lobster, crab cakes, scallops, tilapia and shrimp.

8. Jim’s Steakhouse

7. Kelleher’s Irish Pub

With more than 300 reviews, Kelleher’s Irish Pub and Eatery comes in at No. 7 on TripAdvisor’s list. Open for just over two decades, Kelleher’s offers beer, whiskey and seasonal cocktail menus. For food, Kelleher’s features fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, soups, salads, wraps and an outdoor grill menu.

6. Rhythm Kitchen

Blackened grouper over greens, served with avocado, tomato and cucumber with a side of remoulade is featured at right.  Gumbo ya-ya with a black pecan muffin, top, and catfish court bouillon, a pan fried catfish in a stew served over white rice are just some of the favorites at Rhythm Kitchen at 305 SW Water Street in Peoria.

With favorites like crawfish etouffee and gumbo ya-ya, Rhythm Kitchen Music Cafe came in at No. 6 on the list. Customers can also order vegan and gluten-free options, such as vegetables en crudite.

CONNECTED was ranked No. 5 on TripAdvisor’s list of Top Restaurants in Peoria. The fine dining establishment is also listed as a 2021 “Travelers’ Choice.”

House specialties include entrees such as the Costata D’Agnello, which is described as “domestic lamb chops seasoned with fine herbs, grilled to perfection.” CONNECTED also serves an array of pastas, soups and other entrees.

Thyme Kitchen and Craft Beer is ranked fourth on TripAdvisor’s list. Guests can order shared menu items, including fried brussels sprouts, Wisconsin cheese curds, Philly egg rolls and more. For entrees, Thyme features bison burgers, Cajun shrimp and grits, roasted celery root and more. The bar menu has a variety of bourbon, scotch, whiskey and rye.

3. Alexander’s Steakhouse

The steakhouse, which has received more than 500 reviews on TripAdvisor, offers various cuts of steak, including T-bone, ribeye, filet and more. Guests can also find non-steak menu items, such as lobster tails and teriyaki chicken.

The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern, at 212 SW Water St. in Peoria, is considered one of the best of its kind in Illinois, according to at least once source.

The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern made No. 2 on TripAdvisor’s list and was also listed as a 2021 “Travelers’ Choice.”

The restaurant delivers a “familiar and approachable product in exciting and unexpected ways. In this case that product is barbecue.” Customers can order items such as “smoked then fried wings” and a pulled pork torte. The restaurant offers a variety of meats, served alone or with a choice of sides.

With more than 800 reviews, One World Cafe is listed as No. 1 on TripAdvisor’s list.

One World Cafe offers breakfast items like Belgian waffles, a hearty country breakfast pizza, biscuits and gravy, and a grilled breakfast sandwich. For lunch, the cafe features balsamic citrus salmon, sandwiches and a variety of burger options.
